Mamma Tea

We had booked Mamma Tea for summer 2020. Giuseppe Recupero in Mamma Sicily office helped us reschedule that booking several times during the pandemic. He was so supportive and welcoming throughout - we felt in very safe hands.
When we at last had our holiday in June 2022, we were welcomed personally at the villa by Giovanni Vallone and Giovanni, the owner. The villa is more beautiful than the photos suggest, with stunning views over Aci Castello and Catania. It’s in a rural setting, surrounded by trees.
Giovanni Vallone kindly organised four wonderful Mamma Sicily experiences for us:
A guided walk on Mount Etna led by the very knowledgeable Ezio Mongiovi. We learned from him the basic vulcanology of multiple eruptions in the area and gained an understanding of the flora of the different habitats.
A meal in the home of the Caterina Family. Catia prepared us a feast of local home cooking, all perfectly prepared and served at the family dining table while Catia’s husband played local and international songs (this was an amazing bonus, not in the official description!).
A delicious meal, again prepared by Catia, and delivered to our own villa.
A boat trip with Sicily Sailing Experience, captained by Davide and crewed by Antonella, who cooked us spaghetti con cozze for lunch, washed down with lots of ice cold Grillo. We travelled, under sail, to Aci Terrazza, snorkelled at the foot of the Cyclopi and ate ice cream in the village.
I provide all this detail because from our personal experience, Mamma Sicily absolutely delivered the outstanding welcome it promises. We’ll be back!

The house was fantastically located. View over the sea and Catania. The owners were nice. The house was extremely charming, and well-equipped. Was like moving into a true traditional Sicilian family home. Very nice experience. Pool very big.

Everything about this villa is great. very well equipped, great location and best of all is the wanderful owner Giovanni who will do everything to make sure your vacation is perfect.

We found everything we needed to spend a lovely holiday in villa Tea. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery especially the seaviews. The villa provided us with the necessary comfort like shutters, airco, well-equiped kitchen, linen. It offered a good starting point to visit touristic places in the east of Sicily. The friendly and helpful owner, who lives nearby, gave us a warm welcome.

A lovely, large villa with ample living space inside and out, a big pool and wonderful views! The kitchen and outside cooking/bbq area makes self catering a pleasure. The villa has everything you need just like you were at home! All bedrooms have air con which is a Godsend. The local village is within walking distance and has a couple of basic supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and fish shop in addition to pizzerias, spit roast chicken take away, a couple of local bars/ice cream/pastry shops. To venture further afield to larger supermarkets and the nearby coastal towns; which have plenty of restaurants, lidos etc., you need a car - we considered the roads down too dangerous to walk. These towns do get very busy and jammed with cars; parking can be a problem but we found it easier if we got down there before the Italians who arrive a little later around 9 pm!

My four friends and I spent a wonderful time in Giovanni's villa in Aci Castello (and Sicily in general) and are more than thankful for the great hospitality and helpfulness we experienced. The big and well equipped house is situated in a walled compound (which made us feel very safe) in the hills and offers a terrific view over the sea. The big pool provides a nice cooling-down at any time and the kitchen as well as a great outside kitchen/barbecue leave nothing to be desired. All things considered, a vacation in Aci Castello is highly recommendable.
