Tindari
Tindari
A legendary place perched on a promontory overlooking the sea, Tindari is certainly one of the most beautiful spots in Sicily. It is a very small place, but full of things, almost as if...
Inside the arceologial area, between the Basilica and the Theater, stands this museum that preserves the findings of the beautiful Tindari, first Greek colony and then Roman.
Many objects, among which: two Nikai in flight, perhaps the two acroteria of a temple of the III-IV century BC; capitals, bases, various inscriptions; a marble tragic theatrical mask; a colossal head of Augustus (from the excavation of the Basilica); Roman honorary statues of togate characters.
And again: materials from a Bronze Age settlement; pottery and small pottery from the Hellenistic period (interesting some theatrical masks and figures of comedy actors); cinerary urns in lead and glass and items from the Hellenistic and Roman necropolis.
