Cassataro cave

n the Picone area, behind the river Simeto, is the grotto (covered) where there are a few carvings made by prehistoric Sicilians (5000 BC?). They are pictures in red ochre, among them: a human female figure as tall as roughly 20 cm with large arms and a short skirt, others, very stylized, with the arms up and clasped, a net (trap) with animals, a lizard … The covered area also contains some semicircle holes of who knows what caveman use.
